Omeo is a great place for a weekend getaway, or maybe longer...

Situated at 700 metres above sea level Omeo offers crisp days in summer and winter. Whether you want a couple of days fishing, rafting or bike riding, or a quiet time reading a book or walking the National Park, Omeo is a perfect base. It is fifty five minutes from Mount Hotham and half and hour from great fishing in one of Australia's premier trout streams, the Mitta Mitta River.

Close to the snow at Dinner Plain and Mount Hotham

In winter, the Omeo Alpine Camp is an easy 45 minutes drive to snow at Dinner Plain and about 55 minutes to Mount Hotham

It is a far easier drive than the trip from Bright and Harrietville.

Chains are usually required for 2WD vehicles and can be hired from Billies Servo at the Hotham end of town.

The road can be icy all the way from Omeo in the mornings and evenings. Keep your speed down and drive with care.

O'Connells Buslines offer a service for those people preferring not to drive themselves.

Perfect for large groups

The Omeo Alpine Camp is perfect for large groups.

It sleeps 44 people with separate accommodation for leaders.

It has a commercial fridge and stove and clean and extensive male and female showers and toilets.

It is adjacent to the town oval, perfect for sporting activities or letting off steam. It is a short walk from the town and swimming pool.

Great Base for Rafting

The camp is a great base for groups planning trips on one of Australias most exciting white water rating rivers, the Mitta Mitta River

The river is only 40 minutes from town.

Affordable Omeo Accomodation Options

The Omeo Alpine Camp is on the edge of town of Omeo and offers a variety of styles of comfortable accommodation for couples, families or groups includIng:

Two large dormitories- sleeping a total of 44 people.
Separate male / female showers and toilets.
Fully equipped kitchen / dining room. There is a large drying room which is very useful in winter, a games room with billiard table and darts, TV and DVD. Woodfire and gas heating in the common room.

The Flat- sleeps 4 ( 2single 1 double)
Mini kitchen. ensuite, DVD, TV.

The house- consisting of 5 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, separate lounge room.
2 toilets. Laundry. Self contained kitchen.

All facilities are self catering. There is a kitchen in a the camp that can cater for up to 60 people.

Beds and pillows are provided. You can bring your own other linen or a limited supply is available at $5 per head.

Motor Bike Heaven

Over the years, after the snow disappears, the Omeo Alpine Camp has become increasingly popular to motorcyclists enjoying the exhilaration of the Great Alpine Road. The boots come off, they stretch out and enjoy a cool beer after a long day on the road. There are ample undercover areas for the bikes.
